Es Caragol Beach
Es Caragol Beach, or Platja des Caragol, is a stunning and remote sandy beach on the south coast of Mallorca, near Santanyí. Known for its fine white sand, clear turquoise waters, and natural beauty, it is a virgin beach offering marvelous views of the Cabrera Archipelago. It is the southernmost beach in Mallorca. It can only be accessed by boat or by walking 1.5 kilometers along the shore from the solitary Ses Salines lighthouse. Follow the signs to the Ses Salines lighthouse and park your car for free along this road, as there is no designated parking area, and from there, walk another 25-30 minutes along the rocky dirt paths that wind through the coast. The access is safe and manageable for kids but not suitable for toddlers. Suitable footwear, potable water, and snorkeling gear are essential for the journey. Part of the Migjorn Marine Reserve, the seabed is teeming with marine life, ideal for snorkeling. Your kids will enjoy it! The beach features a valuable dune system with white sand stretching 1 kilometer inland. The shore offers views of the islet of Can Curt to the west and Sa Punta Negra to the east. Some bunkers from the Spanish Civil War can be seen along the coast. Ideal for the more adventurous, who love to explore on the beach Es Caragol is perfect for families who enjoy nature and don’t mind a walk. Preparation is key due to the lack of facilities. No amenities or natural shade there, so don’t forget to bring your own food, drinks and beach equipment. The reward is worth it..
