A Memorable Weekend Getaway: Exploring Alcudia with your Family
Are you looking for a perfect weekend escape that combines breathtaking scenery, cultural exploration, and family-friendly fun?
Look no further than Alcudia, a charming town located on the northern coast of the island.
Join us on our recent adventure as we share our delightful experiences exploring Alcudia Pueblo in April, enjoying the first days of Sring, soaking up the sun at Playa San Juan, eating a delicious lunch at Mirador de la Victoria, and enjoying a comfortable walk with our kids along the scenic coastline.
Alcudia Pueblo: A Step Back in Time
Our weekend in Alcudia kicked off with a visit to Alcudia Pueblo, the historic heart of the town. As we strolled through its cobblestone streets, we were transported back in time, marveling at the well-preserved medieval architecture and charming old-world ambiance. The kids were happy to discover the fortifications and be able to walk through them.
Tips: The view of the mountains is stunning. I recommend taking this walk along the ancient walls shortly before sunset to fully appreciate the sky´s colors.
We couldn’t resist exploring all the small shops offering traditional mallorcan products and having a break (Apero time) in a restaurant in the beautiful Plaza de la Constitucón.
Playa San Juan: Sun, Sand, and Serenity
After immersing ourselves in the rich history of Alcudia Pueblo, we headed to Playa San Juan in the morning, a picturesque beach renowned for its white sands and crystal-clear waters.
The water is still cold for most people at the time of the season, except for my husband that actually dug in for a swim.
We spent hours building sandcastles, playing beach rackets, and having fun with the frisbee.
Tips: The shallow waters can provide a safe and enjoyable swimming experience for your kids, while you can relax on the beach, enjoying the tranquil ambiance and panoramic views of the coastline.
Please note that this beach can be pretty busy during the peak season.
Lunch at Mirador de la Victoria: A Culinary Delight
With appetites whetted by a morning of adventure on the beach, we made our way to Mirador de la Victoria for a delightful lunch overlooking the breathtaking Bay of Alcudia. Situated atop a scenic cliff, the restaurant offered panoramic views that took our breath away.
As we savored each dish, from freshly caught fish to delicious arroz negro (type of Paella), we were happy to enjoy the island’s rich gastronomic heritage. The kids happily tucked into their meals, and were more than happy to enjoy the restaurant playground.
A Nice Walk With the Kids
The next day we went to S’Albufera Natural Park, where we had a really nice kids friendly walk, where we immersed ourselves in nature and discovered the diverse wildlife. You can also explore the park by bike.
The children were amazed to discover all the bird watching cabins, they played along and were really interested to learn more about new birds and their habitats. It was also for us a great opportunity to mention again the importance of preserving our environment.
Please note that picnics are not allowed in the park.
We reflected on our weekend in Alcudia with a sense of gratitude and contentment. From the rich history of Alcudia Pueblo to the postcard beach Playa San Juan, and the culinary delights of Mirador de la Victoria, our journey had been memorable.
In Alcudia, we discovered the perfect blend of relaxation, adventure, and family fun, making memories that would last a lifetime...
